The Italian Civil Aviation Safety Investigation Authority (Agenzia nazionale per la sicurezza del volo ANSV) informs that today, November 12, 2021, in its technological laboratories located in Rome, the memory contained in the Lightweight Data Recorder (LDR) of the Pilatus PC-12 aircraft registration marks YR-PDV, involved in the accident October 3 in Milan, was extracted.
The operations were carried out under the provisions of Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, EU regulation No. 996/2010 and the advance arrangement ex art. 12 of the same EU regulation in force between ANSV and the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Milan. Furthermore, the activities were conducted in coordination with the aforementioned Judicial Authority, which, in parallel to the ANSV safety investigation (which is only aimed to prevention future accidents), is conducting the criminal investigation (which is instead aimed to ascertain responsibilities).
An investigator from AIAS (Investigation Authority of Romania, representing the State of registration of the aircraft) accredited in the ANSV safety investigation as required by international and EU legislation on aeronautical investigations, the technical advisor of the above mentioned Public Prosecutor’s Office, as well as other parties legally entitled to participate in the activity in question attended to the operations.
The activities were carried out successfully and the data contained in the memory were recovered.
In the near future, the extracted data will be analyzed within the framework of the different proposes of the two ongoing investigations.
